PPE which stands for Personal Protective Equipment may be worn to protect & minimize exposure to hazards,
including bacteria & viruses that can cause serious illnesses. PPE works as a barrier between
an individual’s skin, mouth, nose, or eyes and viral and bacterial infections.
PPE minimizes the spread of bacteria and viruses from one person to another when used in conjunction with:
- handwashing for a minimum of 20 seconds with soap and water.
- using alcohol-based hand sanitizers 70% or higher.
- covering coughs and sneezes with proper practices.
Personal protective equipment may include items such as gowns, gloves, safety glasses/shields and masks.
Other Items to help protect yourself include alcohol sprays, sanitizers and anti-bacterial cleaners/wipes.
